Atlantic Surf Route
atlantica, ruta, surfari, surftrip

In the peninsula we have waves of great quality, starting from the border with France we can travel all along the Spanish North coast (Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia) and then enter our neighboring country, Portugal. Where we will find some world-class jewelry and finishing in the South of Spain, in Cadiz.

It is the dreamed getaway by all surfer @ … riding in a camperized van and being able to stop on any beach, depending on the conditions, and take advantage of the first to the last ray of sun.
Forget the time, the responsibilities and the problems and immerse yourself in a surftrip that you will never forget.
In addition, you will not only enjoy great waves but also an impressive Nature, a fantastic climate, an incomparable gastronomy and a friendly treatment at each stop of the trip.

We point out the best known or famous spots of the route, but in this trip you will discover a multitude of peaks for all types of surfing levels. From rock bottoms to shores and with different sizes, depending on the conditions, of course. In any case you will always find the best option for your surfing level.

Depending on the days you have, you can choose one of the zones, two of them or make the complete route. There are three prominent areas:

THE NORTH ZONE

In the north of the peninsula you have many spots, being the jewel of the crown Mundaka. Mundaka is the best left in Europe, sometimes reaching almost 400 meters and about 4 meters high. But it is not gold everything that shines, it is a difficult wave to surf depending on the dates chosen, also there are always about 100 people in the peak and as a rule you have to have a good level not to suffer with the current and the caught.

Other outstanding stops are: Biarritz, Bakio or Meñakoz in the Basque Country; La Salvaje and Los Locos in Cantabria; La Ría de Rodiles or Salinas in Asturias; Pantín, Doniños or Patos in Galicia.

PORTUGAL

Portugal has some of the best waves in Europe, both Nazaré and Supertubos have been cataloged as some of the best international level spots. In fact, both are host to the world championship in their respective categories (Big wave Champ and WSL). You can even match your surftrip with some of these stops  and enjoy the atmosphere and surf of the best riders in the world riding some of the best waves in the world.

But not only do you have these jewels, but also many other lesser known peaks but of an impressive quality. And even more important, an enviable consistency. Depending on the time and situation you should wear a suit at least a 2 / 3mm. Some of them are:
Cabedelo, Lagide, Coxos, Pedra Branca, Reef, Cave, Crazy Left, Ribeira D’Ilhas in Ericeira, etc …

SOUTH ZONE

In the South zone we include in South of Portugal and the coast of Cadiz. Sagres and the Cape of San Vicente possesses a great variety of quality peaks and by its special geographical situation one can take advantage of as many swells of the south as those of the west. And depending on the direction of the sea and the wind you can move to one or another zone. In addition there are only about 30 kilometers between peaks like Do Amado, Bordeira, Tonel, Beliche, Mareta or Zavial. Waves of great quality, with different orientations and a few kilometers.
On the other hand in the coast of Cadiz also you will find good waves, although you have to take into account that the best time to surf in the south is between September and May because of its orientation needs more consistent swells that usually arrive in winter. The most outstanding waves of the coast of the Light are: Los Caños de Meca, Yerbabuena or El Palmar, although there are many corners to be discovered depending on the wind above all. That will force you to move even to Tarifa to enjoy a good session.

We will also leave you the guide of surf & skate, so that you have all the info of all the peaks as well as of all the skateparks along the route in case the waves do not accompany at some point of the trip and you want to continue sliding.

DARE TO MAKE THE BEST SURFTRIP OF YOUR LIFE !!!!
